Candidacy Statement Submission – CFA Society Emirates Board Election 2025
A brief introduction about yourself – Vijay Harpalani
I am a seasoned investment professional with about two decades of well-rounded investment management experience gained at a sell-side institutional brokerage in India, a publicly listed financial institution in Abu Dhabi, an asset management company in Dubai and a prominent family office in Dubai, which is my present role. Outside of my professional engagements, I am an avid hiker and enjoy hiking in the UAE and have recently summitted Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa. I live in Dubai with my wife and two sons and have been based here in the UAE for the past 17 years.
Your reasons for running for the Board
I have gained immensely from the CFA programme and have built strong camaraderie with my fellow CFA Society members. I endeavor to continue contributing my bit to the Society in whichever form, utilizing my experience, network and skill sets. I believe that the CFA Society is best positioned to harness the power of its diverse membership base which has an ideal mix of youth with fresh ideas and wisdom from more experienced members.
What you hope to contribute to the Society
- Similar to the current term, I plan to introducing international asset managers for sponsoring informative events.
- Introducing highly prominent speakers to various events.
- Perhaps involving more volunteers from the interested membership base.
Any areas of focus or new initiatives you plan to champion if elected
As the largest Society in the MENA region, I believe CFA Society Emirates should take leadership in running investor surveys from regional asset managers. This survey will serve as a highly useful indicator of investor sentiments. If elected, this is the new initiative I plan to undertake by also involving volunteers.
